Hormone Therapy May Pose Health Concerns!

Appleton, WI: A February 2008 study published in The Archives of Internal Medicine suggests that women who receive hormone therapy have an increases risk of abnormal mammograms and breast biopsies. In addition, the drugs may decrease the effectiveness of both methods for detecting breast cancer.
During the 5.6 year study, 199 women in the hormone therapy group and 150 women in the placebo group developed breast cancer. Mammograms with abnormal results were more common among women taking hormones than among women taking placebo (35% vs 23%). Women taking hormones had a 4% greater risk of having an abnormal mammogram after 1 year and an 11% greater risk after 5 years.
Women taking hormones had a 10% greater risk of having a breast biopsy compared to 6% in the placebo group.
After discontinuation of the hormone therapy, its adverse effect on mammograms remained significant for at least 12 months after.
Dr. Dan Thibodeau has been helping women balance hormones naturally for over 19 years. If you have any questions about this press release, please contact Dr. Thibodeau at 920-954-1002 or at drdan1221@yahoo.com
